Southwest residents, local families, and anyone else are welcome to join the Village of Consul this coming weekend to celebrate its 110th birthday with an annual car show and an array of events for the whole family.

The celebrations will begin around 8 a.m. with pancake breakfast, followed by a car show off Highway 13 at 10 a.m., while children can look forward to a 20-minute parade beginning at 11 a.m.

Chris McMillan, president of the Reno Rodders Car Club in Consul, encourages everyone to come out and celebrate the history of the community.

"The community has really rallied behind it so we're trying to do as much as we can with everything that's been added in," he said.

McMillan noted that anyone can join the car show by donation, from tractors to trucks to motorbikes.

"We do the car show every year, we've been doing our shows in Consul since 2004 and our club established a few years later in 2006," said McMillan.

A few of the other activities will include a street market, raffle, bouncy castle, games, and rock painting until 4 p.m. followed by a sold-out supper and dance put on by the Village later on.

Interested parties can find a route map of the parade show on the Reno Rodders' Facebook page.
