Effective Friday January 28 the Saskatchewan Health Authority reported that residents who receive a positive test result on a PCR or Rapid Antigen test will be required to self-isolate for 5 days, regardless of their vaccination status.

Previously unvaccinated residents who tested positive were required to self-isolate for 10 days.

Also, close contacts of positive COVID -19 cases will no longer be required to self-isolate, regardless of their vaccination status.

Sticking with COVID-19 updates from the province, the January 27 update reported a total of 1,273 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province. There  were 38 new confirmed cases in the South West zone - 14 in South West subzone 1, and 24 in South West subzone 2.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 113,993, of which 12,386 are considered active.

There are 364 active cases in t he South West zone - 72 in South West subzone 1, and 292 in South West subzone 2.

Two new deaths were reported, none located in the South West zone, bringing the provincial total number of deaths to 985.

There are 328 people in the hospital - 293 receiving inpatient care, and 35 in intensive care.

Yesterday there were 2,006 COVID-19 vaccinations administered in the province - 71 of those in the South West zone.
