In order to get money into your hands faster, the Canadian Wheat Board wants to takeover responsibility for adjustment, interim and final payments.  Currently the board recommends these payments and the federal government approves them.  Chief Financial Officer Brita Chell says that process sometimes takes 6 to 10 weeks. She adds if the board controlled them it would be much speedier, and would help growers better predict their cash flow.  The board plans on using it's contingency fund to backstop the payments.  A proposal has been sent to Agriculture Minister Chuck Strahl, who's indicated he's receptive to the idea.  Chell notes Strahl's office has yet to officially respond to the request.
