DARLING, Victor Hugo, Age 73, passed away on August 21, 2023. Victor was born in Swift Current on February 22, 1950. Victor graduated high school in Swift Current at W.A. Beatty. Vic briefly joined the Navy following high school. Following his time in the Navy, Victor attended tech school in Moose Jaw for drafting.
Victor spent much of his adult life in Edmonton, AB. His life there included a marriage and divorce that blessed him with two stepchildren, Billy and Lee. Victor spent most of his career as a sprinkler designer, first for Grinnell Fire Protection in Edmonton and later for Viking Fire Protection in Regina, SK. Following retirement, he moved to Swift Current, SK. to be closer to his sister Betty.
Victor was a caring, passionate man who adored his sister and always considered her needs. Vic loved to chat and visit with friends and family. Vic made sure there were never any uncomfortable silences in the conversation. Victor had a solid moral compass and sense of morality. He was very concerned with the welfare of women who experienced domestic violence and contributed what he could to support the Swift Current women’s shelter. Vic was a skilled and avid pool player. He played league pool for many years and often talked about the relationships and experiences he enjoyed in the pool community. Vic competed in a Las Vegas tournament yearly for as long as his health allowed. He had a passion for repairing and building pool cues. He was proud of designing and building his custom jump cue.
Victor is survived by his sister Betty Blodgett (Darling), Neice Deanna (Randy) Whitford and their children Emma Grace and Tucker. And his stepchildren, Billy Scott and Lee Shiloff and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, Lenora McCartin (Darling) and Bruce Darling, and his niece, Bonnie Blodgett.
Victor did not wish for a funeral. Instead, please consider donating to the Canadian Lung Association or your local domestic violence shelter to celebrate Victor's life.
