Every "Dawg" has its day.

The Okotoks Dawgs are the 2022 Western Canadian Baseball League Champions, capturing the Harry Hallis Memorial Trophy after a 4-1 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express in a winner-take-all game three of the final series Thursday night at a sold-out Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, Alberta.

The Dawgs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Brendan Luther scored on a sacrifice fly by McCoy Pearce, then Moose Jaw tied it in the second with an RBI double from Greyson Barrett. Okotoks took the lead back with Jacob Morrow scoring on a sacrifice fly from Alex Stufft and an RBI single from Caleb Lumbard in the fourth, and another RBI single from Stufft wrapped up the scoring in the fifth.

Brady Baltus struck out nine batters over six innings to get the win on the mound and Matt Wilkinson picked up a six-out save. Cameron Dunn took the loss in relief for Moose Jaw.

Okotoks won a league record 43 games in the regular season and went 5-1 in the postseason en route to their sixth championship and first since 2019.
