Minimal details regarding Saturday's collision in downtown Swift Current have come out since it happened.

The collision, which involved a white Ford F-150, was reported to the Swift Current City RCMP at 2:31 p.m.

The first business the pickup collided with was Prairie Soul Jewelry + Gift. The bulk of the damage from that collision came from the concrete planter/bin that was struck by the truck and subsequently launched into the store's front display windows, shattering three large sheets of glass.

For the second and final storefront that was damaged in the incident, the Sputtergotch Toy Company, their front display window for toy trucks was destroyed. The truck came to rest against the front display, just shy of blocking the front door.

While the truck itself had its passenger side front wheel completely ripped free of the wheel well, being pinned against the side of the building by the truck. The wreckage managed to come to rest in a position tight to both the store and a tree lining the sidewalk. A tow truck was needed to safely and carefully dislodge it from this position.

Thankfully nobody from either store was injured during this incident. Both stores have declined to provide comment on the incident during the ongoing investigation.

Only the driver was taken to hospital, but the RCMP say no injuries stemmed from the collision.

The City RCMP say at this time, no charges have been laid as the investigation is still ongoing.
