The Swift Current Group 2 Scouts hosted their Bottle Blitz over the weekend; however, the group did not quite receive the level of traffic that they have had in previous years.

Committee Chair and Fundraising Coordinator for the Swift Current Scouts, Bobbi Dawn Legere, said that she believes the rainy weather conditions were a large contribution to the low numbers.

“It just didn't seem like anybody was out and about that day because of the rain,” she said.

Legere said that this year they raised about $200 from cars pulling up and dropping off bottles, as opposed to the $800 raised in previous years.

Individuals are still able to take their empties to SARCAN’s Drop and Go to support the Swift Current Group 2 Scouts at any time.

“If they still want to go and drop them off at the SARCAN, they can still go to the Drop and Go, our sign is up there,” she said. They just enter in our email address and tell them how many tags you want, and they will take them. Or they can easily call Rick and he will come and pick them up at their house if they want at 306-774-6969.”

The group is hopeful that they will be able to return to a door-to-door bottle drive by next year.
