Swift Current’s Youth Treatment Centre is giving back to the community this week by hosting a free garage sale for youth.

The idea for their first Give Back event sprouted when the team at Dorie's House were rearranging and organizing their space.

Rebecca Donnelly, the centre's executive director, said they took a look at the extra things they had and decided it needed to go right back to youth in Swift Current.

"We have an incredible community here who cares about youth as much as we do," she said. "We receive these items, and we distribute them to youth that we support. And this event is an opportunity to give back to all the youth in the community, whether they're connected to us or not."

This Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m., folks are invited to come down to the shelter for snacks, music, and a variety of items they might need.

From clothing and shoes to food and household items, to bedding and toiletries, there is something for everyone. Youth are invited to bring a friend or their parents along, and Donnelly stated that everyone is welcome.

"Every time I that we have this opportunity to speak, I always just want to say thank you to our community," she said. "They have been such a great support. Thank you to the team, the SHA that we work with on the board. I hope it will be a great event."

Anyone interested in helping out the treatment centre with donations or volunteering is encouraged to reach out to them.
