The City of Swift Current has a new Deputy Fire Chief over at the Swift Current Fire Department.

In a press release yesterday afternoon, a press release stated that the City had hired Dean Diguer as the new Deputy Fire Chief.

Diguer will begin in his role in early February of this year.

Swift Current Fire Department Fire Chief, Ryan Hunter, stated in a press release that a variety of criteria played into the decision.

"After interviewing candidates for the position, we felt that with Diguer's experience with fire inspection and investigation, emergency planning, and his previous service with the Swift Current Fire Department, he was the right person for the position."

Diguer is coming from his previous position with the Office of the Fire Marshall in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. He has 12 years under his belt as a firefighter, and eight years as an Assistant Fire Marshall/Emergency Management Officer for the Government of the Northwest Territories.

Additionally, Diguer has prior experience working in Siwft Current, from his time with the Swift Current Fire Department as both an auxiliary and full-time firefighter.

"Having a new team member join us with the experience, training, and ties to the community should make for a successful transition into Diguer's new role," concluded Hunter.
