Swift Current and area residents and families enjoyed the second annual Uptown Block Party yesterday to support local organization, SaskAbilities.

The block party took place in the parking lot of Original Joes, Urban Cellars, and Shoppers Drug Mart in Swift Current from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Jayda Watson, acting regional director for SaskAbilities, was delighted to get the people together for another great fundraiser with fun for the whole family.

"We're at the Uptown Block Party today," she said. "All proceeds from sales today go to support SaskAbilities to support our fundraiser of 'Walk, Wheel, Run'."

The event included barbequed burgers from Original Joe's, drink vendors for tastings, a raffle, Diamond T axe throwing, a bouncy castle for children, and live music from Dillon Currie.

The drink vendors included 9 Mile Legacy Brewing, Sterling Silver Distillery, Last Mountain Distillery, Swift Current's own Black Bridge Brewery and more.

"The highlight is seeing the community come out to support the businesses and SaskAbilities, and enjoy the beautiful weather that we've had today for the event," noted Watson.

Numerous community members stopped by the block party and the parking lot was bustling all day long.
