CEO of G-Mac's Garth MacDonald said in statement yesterday that they have sold to Simplot Grower Solutions, an arm of the larger company J.R. Simplot Company out of Boise, Idaho. He ensured that everyone's job was safe and that the new owners were looking to expand and grow in the agribusiness sector.
"I believe that our amazing team, working with Simplot, will continue to meet your needs and expectations as the industry continues to change and grow. Looking back on our 22 year history, I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish. We could not have done it with out all of you out there in G-Macs country. Thank you very much for your past support, and I hope you will continue to support our team as we become Simplot Grower Solutions."
When asked about his next steps on a personal level, MacDonald said "I'm going to stay on as a consultant. I'm really excited about it. They'll bring all the tools they have to West Central Saskatchewan. They're going to expand on what G-Mac's got started here."
The J.R. Simplot Company, a family-owned, privately held food and agribusiness company headquartered in Boise, Idaho, has agreed to acquire G-Mac’s AgTeam, a retail market leader in agricultural crop inputs and related services throughout Western Canada.
