The Swift Current 57's picked up their ninth win in 10 games with a 6-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Monday at Mitchell Field.

Starter Adam Golby pitched seven shutout innings and allowed just two hits and struck out three batters to get the win on the mound. The 57's were led on the bats by Mathew Ward, who went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the eighth inning, and Thomas Collins hit an RBI double in the fifth inning as part of a 3-for-4 night. Justin Barnes, Owen Stevenson, Nick Chavez and Cory Bonstrom also drove in runs for Swift Current.

The 57's (27-24) are now 2.5 games back of first place in the WCBL's East Division standings with five games remaining in the regular season. The Regina Red Sox moved into a first-place tie with the idle Moose Jaw Miller Express on Monday with a 9-7 win over the Weyburn Beavers.

Swift Current hosts the Miller Express for the final time in the regular season tonight at 7:05pm from Mitchell Field.
