Gwenda Ann Ellis (nee Hughes) passed away on August 28th, 2022. There will be a private family service at a future date.

Gwenda was born July 29, 1962 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to parents Stan and Pat Hughes. Gwenda grew up on a ranch near Abbey, Sk before attending the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She married Grant Ellis August 21st, 1982. They farmed north of Gull Lake where they raised their three daughters, Stephanie, Jennifer and Katherine. Gwenda was always busy. She farmed full time with Grant, and her hobbies included gardening, sewing and baking. Even if she was hauling grain she would have her bag of crocheting with her in case she had a spare moment. She loved berry picking and being creative with her various craft projects. She was well known for attending the Farmers Markets in Swift Current and other craft sales in the southwest. Gwenda was very involved in her community. She volunteered at the Lyceum Theatre with her daughters, was president of the figure skating club for a time and helped out at the skating rink. Gwenda also was a councillor for the R.M. of Gull Lake for a number of years during which time she helped on the Autumn House and Antelope Lake Boards among others.

Gwenda and Grant farmed until 2016, when they retired and moved out to Lake Country, British Columbia. They quickly settled into the neighbourhood and enjoyed visits and hiking with the neighbours. They made the most of retirement, traveling frequently to visit their daughters and grandchildren. Gwenda loved seeing the ocean on her travels. Gwenda still kept busy using her free time quilting blankets, growing flowers and even still grew a small garden with potatoes.

Gwenda is survived by her husband Grant Ellis, her daughters Stephanie, Jennifer and Katherine, her son-in-laws Bhabani, Nick and Geoffrey, her grandchildren Hubert, Rose and Chloe, her parents Stan and Pat, her brothers Wyatt and Clarence.
