The province has now suffered its first COVID-19-related deaths.

The Sask Health Authority announced that two people have died in hospital as a result of complications related to the virus.

The deaths occurred Sunday after the SHA’s daily update. One was travel-related, and both individuals were in their 70s.

As well in the SHA’s Monday update, 20 new confirmed cases were reported in the province, lifting the total to 176.

Eight cases are now related to local transmission.

Five people are current in hospital due to the virus.

Six more recoveries have been made, bringing that total up to 14.

Five cases are currently in the 19-and-under age range. A total of 80 are in the 20-44 range, 62 are in the 45-64 range, and the remaining 29 cases are in individuals 65 older.

Premier Scott Moe and Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab will be speaking on the matter at 2:30 p.m.
