A new era in health delivery begins next week in Herbert.

On Wednesday, the Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility will open - the result of  $1.8 million worth of renovations on the nursing home.

Last December, the Cypress Health Region and Mennonite Church of Saskatchewan signed an agreement to amalgamate the nursing home into the health region.

65% the costs came from the province, the other 35% from Herbert, Morse and surrounding RM's.

The ensure that next week's move from the old hospital is a smooth one, acute care patients from the hospital will be moved to the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current on Tuesday.

Then on Wednesday and Thursday, emergency services, including lab and x-ray services will be shut down for the transition.

Christine Mirka for the Cypress Health region says regular service resumes Friday.

There will be no regular outpatient visits Wednesday and Thursday.
