Submitted Press Release:

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on December 19th, 2011 Swift Current Rural R.C.M.P. along with Swift Current Traffic Services and an RCMP collision analyst responded to a 2 vehicle collision at the Junction of highways 32 and 332. An 18 year Swift Current woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.  She was the sole occupant of a four door sedan.  The other vehicle, a Pick-up truck was being driven by a 23 year old male from Saskatoon and he had a 30 year old female passenger from Raymore, SK.  Both occupants of the pick-up truck  were transported to Cypress Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

There are indications that the victim may have been texting while driving and RCMP are considering that this may have been a contributing factor in this collision.  The full investigation into this collision will be conducted by the Swift Current RCMP and until the investigation is complete RCMP can not say conclusively whether or not texting is confirmed to be a contributing factor in this fatality.  RCMP would like to remind the public that it is against the law to operate hand-held devices while operating a vehicle.

The names of the deceased and victims are not being released at this time.
