Swift Current welcomed McHappy Day back to the city yesterday with open arms after the event was required to take place virtually over the last few years.

A portion of the proceeds from every menu item sold throughout the day yesterday, will go towards supporting families with sick children staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities and other children’s charities across Canada.

Shift supervisor at the Swift Current McDonald’s, Anngie Arnold, said that she was looking forward to the events return to in person.

“It's really great to see some familiar faces and some new faces,” she said. “And it's really great to be able to give back to the community.”

A few additions to the event were added this year, including the donation of proceeds from any item bought as opposed to only specific items.

Arnold added that 10% of each purchase will be donated to RMHC.

Through 33 programs that include houses and 17 family rooms, the proceeds go towards keeping families together during trying times.

Since 1977, McHappy Day has helped RMHC support more than 436,000 families across Canada.
