The Kyle Community Rodeo is back for its 46th installment. Not only will there be rodeo action, beer gardens and baseball game are on tap for tonight as well. Recreation Director for Kyle, Leanne Pederson talks about the schedule for this evening.

“Our senior men’s baseball team, the Yellow Jackets, are playing against Eston at 6:30. Our beer gardens will be open, then at 9:00 pm, we have a cabaret featuring Bakersfield. It's free admission for Friday events, so we welcome everyone,” Pederson said.

There are also other events planned for the weekend, according to Pederson.

“We've got a slo-pitch tournament with seven teams. We've got a beach volleyball tournament with ten teams, of course beer gardens and kid's activities, bouncy castle, face painting. Our rodeo starts at 5:00 pm tomorrow and this year we're featuring mutton busting for ages 3 to 7. And then we got a dance that night at 10:00 featuring Quinton Blair. No minors are allowed at that one” she added.

The rodeo features a full lineup of entries on both Saturday and Sunday, Pederson explained.

“We've got a big lineup this year, our entries for the rodeo for Saturday is very decent, Sunday is really good. We have lots of entries, lots of bull riding, we have quite a few locals this year in our rodeo, so we're very excited about it.”

A full day of events is set for Sunday as well.

“Sunday morning, we have a free pancake breakfast sponsored by Southwest Terminal and then the slo-pitch and volleyball continue. Our rodeo is at 3:00, and we have a beef supper catered by Wally’s Restaurant and Lounge at 5:00 PM at the Elks Hall,” Pederson said.

The weekend should be a blast for Kyle and area residents, and Pederson knows how much work was put in to make this weekend possible.

“The number of volunteers that we have, the people coming out to help beforehand to get set-up, and mow grass and rototiller the grounds, it's just amazing,” Pederson added.
