Will Kirwan and Jace Egland scored twice as the Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires swept their first weekend homestand of the season with a 5-2 win over the Saskatoon Contacts on Sunday at Innovationplex.

Mason Fauser opened the scoring for the Legionnaires at the 6:45 mark of the first period before Spencer Chestolowski tied it up on the power play 41 seconds into the second period. Kirwan then gave Swift Current the lead again with a goal at 6:47 of the middle frame, and Egland extended the lead to two goals midway through the third. After Tyler Phipps cut the Contacts' deficit to 3-2 with a power play goal with 8:29 left, Kirwan scored his second of the game with 5:41 remaining before Egland added an empty-netter for his second of the afternoon.

Griffin Darby had three assists and Kade Stringer added a couple of helpers. Jacob Morris made 26 saves as Saskatoon outshot Swift Current 28-24.

The Legionnaires (7-3-0) return to action when they host the Saskatoon Blazers on Saturday at Innovationplex and on Sunday at AGT Arena in Eston.
