The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires took three of a possible four points on a weekend set against the league-leading Saskatoon Blazers, dropping a 3-2 decision in the shootout on Sunday at InnovationPlex.

Swift Current jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals in the first period from Eric Hoiness and Hudson Darby, but the Blazers responded with goals from Lee Shurgot and Kash Andresen to tie the game up at 2-2 after 40 minutes. After a scoreless third period and overtime frame, the two teams went to a three-player shootout where Raiden Zacharaias and Shurgot scored, and Blazers goalie Grayson Malinoski stopped both Swift Current attempts to help Saskatoon get the win and earn a split of the weekend.

Hunter Arntsen made 42 saves for the Legionnaires in his first U18 AAA start. The Blazers outshot Swift Current 44-29.

The Legionnaires (21-9-0-3) visit the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors in their next game on Wednesday.
