Konnor Watson scored the overtime winner to lift the Prince Albert Mintos to a 4-3 win over the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires on Sunday afternoon at Innovationplex.
Taite Donkin opened the scoring for the Mintos 6:38 into the first period before Kade Stringer replied on the power play at the midway mark of the period, and Jace Egland added a short-handed marker with 5:10 left to make it 2-1 for the Legionnaires before Kale Margolis tied it back up with 3:24 left in the first. After a scoreless second period, Stringer scored his second of the game on the power play 3:17 into the third to give Swift Current a 3-2 lead, but Scott McLean answered with a goal at 6:54 to even it back up. The 4-4 tie held up through the rest of regulation, and Watson scored the winner for the Mintos 1:39 into the extra frame.
Berney Weston made 34 saves for the Legionnaires, who were outshot by the Mintos 38-28.
The Legionnaires (9-4-2) continue their homestand against the Warman Wildcats on Saturday and Sunday.
