This weekend is another busy one for Swift Current's minor hockey teams.

The Source for Sports U-18 AA Broncos host Moose Jaw for two games this weekend, the Pure Chem U15 Broncos welcome the Regina Aces tomorrow, and the SWT U13 Broncos have home games against Yorkton and the Prairie Storm. The Full Line Ag U18 Wildcats visit the Southeast Gold Wings this weekend while the Graphic Edge U15 Wildcats travel to Saskatoon tonight and tomorrow.

Marner keeps streak going as Leafs blank Kings

Mitch Marner scored in the second period to extend his point streak to 21 games and lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-0 win over the LA Kings in NHL action last night. Ilya Samsonov made 29 saves for his first shutout with the Leafs.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Luc Dubois had two goals and an assist as the Winnipeg Jets beat St. Louis 5-2, and Tyler Seguin scored with 29 seconds left in overtime to put Dallas past Ottawa 4-3.

NHL action tonight has the Calgary Flames visiting Johnny Gaudreau and the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Jets in Chicago to take on the Blackhawks and the Edmonton Oilers welcoming the Minnesota Wild at Rogers Place.

Mayfield leads comeback in Rams debut

Baker Mayfield threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Van Jefferson with 10 seconds left in the game as the LA Rams beat the Las Vegas Raiders 17-16 in the NFL Thursday nighter. Mayfield, a former first-overall draft pick, was waived by the Carolina Panthers earlier this week and only joined the Rams on Tuesday.

World Cup quarterfinals start today

The FIFA World Cup resumes with two quarterfinal matchups today in Qatar. Croatia takes on Brazil this morning and then the Netherlands will battle Argentina this afternoon.

Tomorrow, England faces the defending champions from France and Morocco takes on Portugal. The semi-finals will take place next week with the final set for next Sunday.

Rush travel to San Diego in NLL action

The Saskatchewan Rush head to San Diego to take on the Seals tonight in week two of the National Lacrosse League season. The Rush beat the defending champion Colorado Mammoth 18-6 in their home opener last week. 

The next home game for the Rush is against Panther City on New Year’s Eve at Saskatoon's SaskTel Centre.
