A Swift Current pitcher appeared in the Canadian College World Series over the weekend.

Dawson Schultz suited up for the first-ranked Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs squad that came up just short of the finals.

They opened with a 4-2 victory over Vancouver Island on Thursday.

After a day off, the University of Calgary Dinos bested the Dawgs 8-2.

The loss put them in a must-win situation moving forward. Schultz took to the mound against Vancouver Island and propelled his team to a 12-2 win. He pitched seven innings only allowing one earned run while striking out seven batters.

The Dawgs won on Sunday afternoon against the Okanagan College 12-4 to move onto the semi-finals.

The quest for the title for Schultz and the Dawgs ended Sunday night with an 11-10 loss to Victoria Collegiate.

If the Dawgs advanced to the finals against the University of Calgary Dinos, Schultz was expected to start.
