Rehearsals for the Swift Current Oratorio Choirs' 50th season are underway in preparation for their concert on April 23.

The concert will feature highlights from previous years while welcoming former and new members alike explained Fundraising Chair and Promotions Organizer, Claire Verret.

“Because it's our 50th season, we're quite excited and we're trying to solicit members from the past that might want to come and celebrate with us by singing numbers that they may have performed in the past, and of course, new members,” she elaborated. “I don't think people realize what a joy it is to sing.

Verret added that although it can be intimidating, no experience is needed to become a member of the choir.

“It's sometimes challenging work, but by the time we've are fully rehearsed, everything comes together,” she stated. “So, we do want to advise people that are considering singing with us to not be daunted by either the name of the choir or sometimes some of the selections, because when the music all comes together it's just a beautiful thing.”

Rehearsals take place on Monday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Zion Mennonite Church.

No auditions are required in order to join.
