Construction on a temporary detour on Highway 4 south of Cadillac is expected to begin shortly.

The stopgap replacement, one kilometre south of the Highway 13 junction, will take about two weeks to construct and will just be one lane. Traffic control devices will be set up to alternate the direction of travel for traffic.

As for the larger job, rebuilding and paving the section that was washed out due to spring flooding on April 11, the Ministry of Highways stated they need the repair area to dry out to allow for the required work and equipment.

The extent of the damage and repair work to Highway 4 is still being evaluated at this time.

The Ministry of Highway thanks the public for their patience while the repair process continues.
