About 65 percent of eligible farmers took part in the vote in Manitoba. A Federal Barley Plebiscite will begin January 31st to find out if farmers want to have marketing choice for barley.  Meantime, Manitoba released the results of it’s plebiscite. About 65 percent of eligible farmers took part in the vote, out of that 70 per cent wanted to keep the status quo on wheat, while 62 per cent wanted barley to remain under the board. Saskatchewan’s Deputy Premier Clay Serby liked the results adding he’s not surprised. Serby says they will wait to see the federal question on barley and how they put together the voters list before determining if Saskatchewan will hold it’s own plebiscite. Manitoba’s plebiscite cost about $80,000.
