Kahli and Kahlen Delorme from Maple Creek Composite School were the lone southwest representatives at the SHSAA Provincial Badminton Championships in Unity on Saturday. They were one of eight girls doubles teams from across the province competing at the event.
The Delormes opened pool play with a straight-sets win over Rocanville (21-13, 21-19), but suffered a straight-sets loss to Saskatoon Walter Murray (14-21, 13-21) setting up a must-win game against a team from Leoville, which they lost in three sets (22-20. 17-21, 13-21).
Regina's Campbell Collegiate won the Girls Doubles title, with LeBoldus winning Boys Doubles and Saskatoon Centennial winning Mixed Doubles. Students from LeBoldus and O'Neill high schools in Regina won Boys and Girls Singles, respectively.
The final high school sport of the season is track and field, with SWAC sectional meets happening this week. Districts will be held at the Comp High School on May 24 with provincials in Saskatoon on June 2 & 3.
