The issue of equalization is something the provincial government plans to keep front and centre until a new deal with Ottawa can be obtained.

The Calvert NDP $300,000 equalization ad campaign is underway to try and pressure the federal government into changing the current formula that determines if Saskatchewan gets payments from Ottawa.

Government Relations Minister, Harry Van Mulligen, says local residents can get involved as well by contacting their local Members of Parliament and reminding them about their election promise relating to the deal.

If non-renewable resource revenues were eliminated from the formula Saskatchewan could receive up to $800 million.
