A busy few days in Shaunavon as the Elks are holding their 93rd Annual Convention in the community.

The Convention goes from Thursday to Sunday morning and welcomes about 50 delegates.

The group meets to discuss a wide range of topics from changes to bylaws to some of the organization's fundraising projects.

Shaunavon Elks member, Kyle Stevenson, will also be installed as the new Provincial President of the Elks. He was nominated by Elks member, Andy Cox, who spoke about the nomination process saying, "It takes several years. You start at the bottom of the ladder, and each year you climb up a rung. It's about a 7 to 8 year project."

Stevenson's duties as Provincial President will be to visit various lodges around the province as well as represent the Elks at various functions.

Stevenson says he's looking forward to his new role and meeting new people. "It's a great way to make new friends, so I'm gonna meet new people throughout the year as I travel and visit other lodges."

The installation will happen Saturday afternoon at 2:15 at the Elks Hall and the public is welcome to attend.
