The new Saskatchewan Distance Learning Corporation (Sask DLC) is officially recruiting staff to fill roles across the province.

Looking to employ approximately 150 educators, the Sask DLC stated that about 60 teachers are to be transferred from the Sun West School Division, with 90 new positions available.

In a provincial release issued yesterday, Education Minister Dustin Duncan said the number of staff available to students through Sask DLC will ensure that students have access to high-quality education.

"The opportunity to have staff connected to students across the province will ensure students are supported at the local level," he added.

Each regional campus will have a principal, teachers, and support positions, and students will continue to have access to their local school divisions for things such as driver's license training, graduation ceremonies and extracurricular activities.

Opportunities will be available at the main office in Kenaston, as well as at the other nine regional campuses in the communities—including one in Swift Current.

The Sask DLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF), confirming that teachers employed by them will be STF members. This provides all teachers access to a pension, supports and benefits.

Student registration for the 2023-24 school year is expected to open in April, and job postings for the Sask DLC can be found on their website
