A sizable amount of southwestern Saskatchewan households will be receiving some money in the mail in the coming days.

Pioneer Co-op announced this morning they'll be sending out over 17,000 equity cheques on June 5 amounting to $14 million.

"Every year following year-end, all the members will receive equity cheques based on the profitability of Pioneer Co-op," Mac Forster, a member of Pioneer Co-op's board of directors, said.

The allocations this year include; three per cent for food, one per cent for hardware/lumber/plumbing, five per cent for pharmacy, five per cent for agro, one per cent for fertilizer, five per cent for service station, five and a half per cent for farm fuel, and two per cent for wine/spirits.

"When it comes to the service stations, that five per cent translates into seven and a half cents per litre on gasoline," he said.

The southwestern Saskatchewan-based company had a record year in sales bringing in just shy of $378 million. Marking the first time they've averaged over $1 million in sales per day.
