Swift Current will be buzzing this evening as City Wide Connection returns, giving residents the freedom to learn about all the opportunities the city has to offer.

Community Recreation Coordinator for the City of Swift Current, Krista Caswell, explained that it is a fantastic resource for members of the community to find the best fit for them.

“Community members can head out to the Stockade at Kinetic Park, and they can find out all about different volunteer opportunities in the city- sports, recreation, and culture groups- so they can get active and find out what our communities best offer for them is,” she elaborated.

This year’s event will feature community service groups such as Great Plains College and the Ag & Ex.

Also in attendance will be the Swift Current Newcomer Welcome Centre, which will be celebrating International Women’s Day.

Caswell added that it will be fantastic to bring Citywide Connection back to an in-person event for the second year in a row, after the pandemic.

“During COVID it was really rough to not be able to meet with the community groups and connect with them,” she stated. “It's so nice to be out in public and being able to have those conversations, because lots of the community members don't realize how many things there are in our community and it's just great to be able to ask those questions, figure out what you want your kids in or yourself, and just to get really involved in our community.”

The doors of the Stockade will open tonight at 6:30 p.m., and remain open until 8:00 p.m.
