The annual pooch plunge took place over the weekend at Fairview Pool, marking the end of another successful season.
Meghan Chisholm, Aquatic Manager for the City of Swift Current, said that although the weather was not ideal this year, the fundraiser for the SPCA was still a success.
“It's always fun to watch the dogs run around,” she elaborated. “And see their owners trying to get them into the water and enjoy a little bit of them swimming, and just kind of having fun and meeting new people as well.”
Entry for the event was five dollars per dog. All proceeds from the event go directly towards the SPCA, helping pay for food, care, and shelter for the pets.
In total, this year's event raised $90 for the Swift Current SPCA.
Chisholm noted that the lower attendance this year can be credited to the last-minute date change as well as the chilly weather.
