Statistics Canada has released their census yesterday, and things are not looking good for Saskatchewan, but Swift Current is bucking the trend
The province's population dropped by almost 11 thousand people since 2001.
Saskatchewan Party MLA for Swift Current Brad Wall says we should be increasing in population, not decreasing.
He blames the drop on poor economic policies and the lack of a welcoming investment atmosphere for the private sector.
Swift Current's population, however, is up from the last census. In 2001, 14,821 people lived in Swift Current, now 14,946 reside here.
