If you're going to spending any time near water this summer, the Canadian Red Cross reminds you to be safe.

This includes not consuming alcohol when swimming or operating a boat, always have enough lifejackets on board, and ensure home pools are fenced and the gate is fitted with a self-closing and self-latching mechanism.

Each year, over four-hundred people drown in Canada.  The majority of drowning victims are children between the ages of one and four, and males between fifteen and seventy-four.
