The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires picked up their first victory of 2023 with a 6-4 win over the Warman Wildcats on Sunday at Innovationplex.

Rylan Williams opened the scoring for the Legionnaires 1:53 into the first period and Kade Stringer made it 2-0 for Swift Current with a power play goal at 4:27. Isaiah Arnold and Kazden Mathies tied the game up with two quick goals for the Wildcats, but Eric Hoiness and Parker Rondeau scored late in the period to give the Legionnaires a 4-2 lead after 20 minutes.

Zane Normand brought Warman within one midway through the middle frame, but Wesley Olson scored with 1:53 left in the second to give the Legionnaires their two-goal cushion back before Jack Janzen scored for the Wildcats with 23 seconds left in the period. Rondeau scored his second goal of the game to wrap up the scoring with 2:39 left in the game.

Williams and Jace Egland had two assists each for Swift Current and Berney Weston made 35 saves as the Legionnaires outshot Warman 37-35.

The Legionnaires (20-7-0-2) visit the Regina Pat Canadians in their next game on Tuesday night.
