VAN BUSKIRK It is with sadness the family of Samuel (Sam) Charles Henry Van Buskirk of Kyle, SK announce his passing on August 2, 2022 at the Kyle Health Centre at the age of 94 years.

Sam was born to Samuel and Margaret Van Buskirk at the Rosetown Hospital on April 27, 1928.

Sam attended rural schools and Kyle School in the winters, he received his grade 12 in Kyle. He worked for the Dept. of Highways, started farming when he finished school, he also spent three winters working in the bush at Grande Prairie, one winter in Toronto and one winter in Calgary. Sam belonged to the Masons and Elks and did a lot of travelling. He played baseball, hockey, golf and curled until his late eighties, he also coached hockey. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, loved to dance and spent many summers at the cabin at the lake. In 1988, Sam and his good friend Mac Garrett formed a partnership K & P Outfitters, catering to American hunters. He enjoyed attending outfitting shows at Minneapolis, Reno and Vegas. Family was very important to Sam, for example, he attended every family reunion, either a Van Buskirk or Moore one.

Sam was loved and respected by many, he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community.

Sam is survived by: son Craig and Marsha Van Buskirk (children: Alexis (Aron) Turgeon and son Victor and Jessica (Tyler) Kestirke and their children Ryker and Grace), daughter Jackie and Jack Staal (children: Meaghan Staal (Mark) and Kristen Staal (Geoff) and children Hudson and Theo), daughter Leslie and Henry Knox (children: Lisa Knox, Steven (Fewilyn) Knox and children Samantha and Dean), daughter Carole Ann and John Mielke (children: Bevan (Amanda) Mielke and children Emery, Clay, Carter and Nate, Ian Mielke and Linnae Mielke), brother Lyle (Shirley) Van Buskirk, sister Audrey Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Margaret Van Buskirk, his in-laws Jack and Rita Moir, wife Shirley Van Buskirk, brother Darb Van Buskirk, niece Joy Clelland, brothers-in-law Dick Clelland and Andy Anderson and sister-in-law Sue Van Buskirk.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Kyle Health Centre for their kindness and caring of Sam. There will be no service but a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
