Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Swift Current area.

Conditions are favorable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

A warm, moist and unstable air mass has returned to a large portion of southern Saskatchewan. As an approaching low pressure system enters the province from Alberta, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across western sections before moving eastward as the afternoon progresses.

Some of these storms will likely become severe and will include the threat of an isolated tornado or two this afternoon and early this evening.
