Summer is about halfway over, but there's still lots of things to do before the leaves turn, including some big events happening this weekend!
Great Southwest Shakespeare Festival
The third Great Southwest Shakespeare Festival kicks off on Saturday with the first playing of As You Like It, one of the Bard’s most popular comedies, with performances continuing through August 19. The Tempest will be added to the festival starting on August 4.

Dino Days returns to Eastend
The community of Eastend celebrates the return of Dino Days on Friday and Saturday with a home run derby, demolition derby, a street dance with live music and a fireworks display.
When: Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23
Where: Various locations around Eastend
Cars Under the Stars
Shaunavon’s Excellerator Car Club and Crescent Point Energy are sponsoring a free outdoor movie on Friday night featuring the 1973 drive-in classic American Graffiti (rated PG).
When: Friday, July 22, gates open at 9:00pm with the movie starting at 10:00pm
Where: The open field behind the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre
Cost: Free with a donation to the Shaunavon Food Bank
Open Stage at the Lyric Theatre
The Lyric Theatre hosts another Open Stage night on Friday with host Al Hudec and an assortment of local talent.
When: Friday, July 22 with doors opening at 7:00pm and performances starting at 8:00pm
Where: The Lyric Theatre (227 Central Ave N)
Cost: $7, but performers get in for free.
Country Dance at Doc’s Town
Doc’s Town Heritage Village will be hosting an old-fashioned country dance at the Airmen’s Billet on Sunday afternoon, and the historic buildings and Country Pleasures Tea Room will be open all weekend, too.
When: Sunday, July 24 at 2:00pm

Stock Car Racing Returns
The Swift Current Stock Car Association is back with another exciting race weekend with the Minis, Streets and Modifieds racing under the lights.
When: Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 at 7:00pm
Where: Kinetic Exhibition Park
Cost: $10 for students and adults, $5 for kids 6-15, free for kids five and under.
Sunday night baseball for the Swift Current 57’s
Six players on the Swift Current 57’s will be in Okotoks for the WCBL All-Star Game on Saturday, and you can welcome them home when they take on the Weyburn Beavers on Sunday night.
