An unexpected blaze in the early hours of Thursday morning left a small business, in the Cantuar area, little more than a shell of smoke and ash.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on July 21, the RM of Swift Current Fire Department (RMSCFD) responded to the call northwest of the city, after a passerby noticed the blaze.

“When we got there, it must've been burning for a while,” RMSCFD Fire Chief Louis Cherpin stated. “The building was totally engulfed in flames and saving the building was not possible.”

The blaze was contained to the single structure, a small business in the area, Chaos Choppers.

Eight firefighters responded to the call and battled the blaze for three and a half hours.

Cherpin also gave credit to the Swift Current Fire Department, who assisted in providing water support to the RMSCFD.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with Cherpin planning to return to the scene for further investigation today.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.
