The inaugural Swift Cup was handed out to its first southwest business owner yesterday.

Gull Lake's Southern Pressure Testers' Panthers had their name etched in the silver trophy following their game seven 2-1 defeat over the Finning Oilers.

Dan McPhee, owner and manager with Southern Pressure Testers, accepted the Swift Cup and called it a bitter-sweet victory as he's an Edmonton Oilers fan.

"It was a pretty good consolation prize," he lamented. "Next year the Oilers will get it."

The Cup will remain at Southern Pressure Testers on display for their employees and even the community.

"It's a real nice looking Cup," McPhee said when handed the trophy for the first time.

Southern Pressure Testers has also won 100 free ads to use as a part of the Swift Cup promotion. Although the Finning Oilers just came up short of having their name engraved into the Cup, they've also won 50 free ads.
