Blue Jays beat Yankees in extras, Judge stays at 60 homers

The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a walk-off win and kept Aaron Judge at 60 home runs in a 3-2 extra-innings victory Monday night at Rogers Centre. 

Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. hit the game-winning RBI single in the 10th inning, while Judge went 1-for-3 at the plate with a single. The Yankees outfielder, chasing Roger Maris’ American League single season record of 61 home runs, hasn’t homered in six games. 

The Jays moved two and a half games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays for the first wild card spot and their magic number to clinch a playoff spot has been reduced to three. 

The series continues tonight with Jose Berrios starting for the Jays. 

Davies on the ice for Florida in NHL pre-season

Swift Current Broncos forward Josh Davies was in the lineup for NHL pre-season action with the Florida Panthers on Monday night. 

Davies had a shot on goal, just over 11 minutes of ice time and was a minus one as Florida was blanked 4-0 by the Nashville Predators. 

In other pre-season action, New Jersey beat Montreal 2-1 and Seattle shut out Edmonton 3-0. 

The Broncos, meanwhile, host the Winnipeg ICE in their next game on Friday.

Riders suspend Dolegala after impaired driving charge

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have suspended backup quarterback Jake Dolegala for one game after he was arrested and charged with impaired driving in Regina over the team’s bye week.

"Drinking and driving is a significant problem in our province, one that can have dangerous consequences, and we are disappointed in Jake for his actions," the team said in a statement on Monday, adding they have notified the CFL's league office about the suspension.

Dolegala appeared in two games for the green and white this season, throwing for 154 yards and a touchdown. 

The Riders return to action on Friday night when they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. 

Meanwhile, the BC Lions announced veteran receiver Bryan Burnham suffered a fractured wrist in Saturday’s loss to Calgary and will be placed on the six-game injured list. 

The Lions are still hopeful that Burnham and injured quarterback Nathan Rourke will both be back before the playoffs. 

Cowboys down G-Men in NFL Monday Nighter

CeeDee Lamb made a one-handed touchdown grab with 8:30 left in the game to lift the Dallas Cowboys over the New York Giants 23-16 in the NFL on Monday night. 

Cooper Rush threw for 210 yards in his second game for the Cowboys since filling in for the injured Dak Prescott.

Canada wraps up FIBA Women's World Cup prelims with win

Bridget Carleton had 27 points and eight rebounds to lead Canada's women's basketball team to an 88-65 win over Mali at the FIBA Women's World Cup in Australia. 

The Canadians finish the round robin with a 4-1 record ahead of Thursday's quarterfinal.
