Toys, toys and more toys was the theme at Canadian Tire this weekend as part of the 4th annual Toys Days program put on by Canadian Tire in Swift Current and the Salvation Army.

Bill Mailman from the Salvation Army in Swift Current reflected on the generosity shown by the local community once again this year.

"It's just been incredible to see this weekend, almost three full bins here. People dropping off stuff all the time, it was great to see. There is a greater need this year, we have seen quite an increase throughout the year even with access to the food bank and this year during our hamper registration it's up quite a bit. We are always blown away by the generosity in this community."

Over 450 children registered with the event this year and while final numbers are still being counted it is safe to say that many in the southwest who may not have had a present to open on Christmas morning now will.

Mailman says their busy holiday schedule continues this week.

"We do have a busy week coming up. On December 6th on Tuesday, we have the CP Holiday Train rolling in.  We're going to be down there with the truck and serving hot chocolate around 8:00pm so we will see you then"
