Lachlan Hockey helped the Swift Current 57's avoid a four-game sweep this afternoon at Mitchell Field with a strong outing on the mound against the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

The Australian right-hander only allowed two earned runs in six innings while striking out five batters to pick up his first win of the season in the 5-2 57's victory.

Swift Current's leadoff hitter Jerimiah Sanchez scored the game's opening run in the first inning on an error.

Moose Jaw tied it up at one a-piece in the top of the second inning, but the 57's grabbed the lead back in the bottom of the frame as Sanchez and Kai Gray both produced RBI singles. Right fielder Marcus Graham pushed the lead to 4-1 with an RBI double.

The Miller Express scored another lone run in the top of the third inning but that's as close as they'd get with Swift Current tacking on an extra run in the eighth inning.

57's pitcher Jaylen Gutierrez recorded his second save of the season working three scoreless innings allowing just two hits.

Swift Current will visit the Brooks Bombers tomorrow night.
