The Swift Current Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire on Friday, at 3:52 p.m.

When crews arrived at the fire, on 5th Avenue Northwest, smoke and flames were exiting the rear of the building.

After entering the building and finding no occupants, firefighters battled the blaze.

Homes on either side of the fire were protected with cooling water and a layer of fire-retardant foam.

Heavy damage was inflicted on the involved building.

There were no injuries and the incident is currently under investigation.
