Before gathering around that backyard fire this summer, there's a few things to keep in mind.

There are a couple of restrictions and regulations in place for fire pits, before even starting your first fire.

Deputy Fire Chief, Albert Headrick, says there are several factors to check before starting a fire, including keeping combustible materials away from flames, and checking wind conditions.

Headrick adds that only wood and charcoal are allowed to be burned within city limits and that any other materials are prohibited.  Also, as a courtesy to your neighbors, please extinguish your fire if smoke begins drifting into other yards.
