In the January 21 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 1,233 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 1,233 new cases there are 44 in the Far North West zone, 9 in the Far North Central zone, 17 in the Far North East zone, 36 in the North West zone, 46 in the North Central zone, 37 in the North East zone, 285 in the Saskatoon zone, 20 in the Central West zone, 97 in the Central East zone, 302 in the Regina zone, 75 in the South Central zone, and 87 in the South East zone.

There are 45 new confirmed cases in the South West zone - 11 in South West subzone 1, and 34 in South West subzone 2.

There are 133 new cases with pending residence information.

There are 1,173 cases with pending residence information that were assigned as follows - 40 to the Far North West zone, 3 to the Far North Central zone, 69 to the Far North East zone, 379 to the North West zone, 273 to the North Central zone, 16 to the North East zone, 111 to the Saskatoon zone, 32 to the Central West zone, 50 to the Central East zone, 125 to the Regina zone, 16 to the South West zone, 27 to the South Central zone, and 32 to the South East zone.

Twenty-five Saskatchewan residents tested out of the province have been added as follows - 7 to the Saskatoon zone, 1 to the Central East zone, 13 to the Regina zone, 2 to the South Central zone, and 2 to the South East zone. 

Two cases were removed as follows - 1 from the Central East zone, and 1 from the Regina zone.

Of the 1,233 new cases reported today, 229 were unvaccinated or fewer than 21 days after their first dose, 45 had received their first dose or were less than 21 days from their second dose, 685 were fully vaccinated (more than 14 days since their second dose), and 274 were fully vaccinated and more than 14 days from receiving their booster dose.

Almost two-fifths (38.3%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 age category.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers is 1,240 (103.0 new cases per 100,000 population).

That brings the provincial total of cases to 106,328, of which 12,199 are considered active.

There are 364 active cases in the South West zone - 51 in South West subzone 1, and 313 in South West subzone 2.

There were 9 new deaths reported, none of them in the South West zone, bringing the provincial total number of deaths to 969. One individual whose death was flagged as COVID-19 previously is no longer flagged and has been removed from the total.

There are 1.022 recoveries reported, 27 of those in the South West zone, bringing the provincial total number of recoveries to 93,160.

There are 215 people in hospital - 192 receiving inpatient care, and 23 are in intensive care.

Of those 215 patients, 71 (33.0%) were not fully vaccinated.

Of the 192 inpatients, 88 of those are a COVID-19 related illness, 89 are incidental COVID infections, and 15 have not yet been determined.

Of the 23 people in intensive care,  15 are for COVID-19 related illnesses, 7 are for incidental COVID infections, and 1 is undetermined.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has listed two southwest Long Term Care facilities with COVID cases among staff and residents - 1 case at the Meadows Long Term Care Facility-House 12 in Swift Current, and 1 case at the Herbert and District Integrated Healthcare Facility.

Of the 19,697 variants of concern cases identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 7.123 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 10 are Beta (B.1.351), 484 are Gamma (P.1), 10,125 are Delta (B.1.617.2), and 1,955 are Omicron (B.1.1.529).

To date, 1,403,443 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 6,696 COVID-19 tests processed in the province.

There were 2,123 COVID-19 vaccinations administered yesterday, 72 of those in the South West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of vaccinations given to 1,840,097.

There are now 882,750 Saskatchewan residents who are fully vaccinated.
