In the January 24 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 909 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 909 new cases there are 2 in the Far North West zone, 16 in the Far North East zone, 30 in the North West zone, 15 in the North Central zone, 9 in the North East zone, 235 in the Saskatoon zone, 21 in the Central West zone, 69 in the Central East zone, 281 in the Regina zone, 86 in the South Central zone, and 33 in  the South East zone.

There are 40 new confirmed cases in the South West zone - 4 in South West subzone 1, and 36 in South West subzone 2.

There are 72 new cases with pending residence information.

Fifty-six cases with pending residence information has been assigned as follows - 19 to the North West zone, 3 to the North Central zone, 13 to the Saskatoon zone, 1 to the Central West zone, 3 to the Central East zone, 12 to the Regina zone, 1 to the South West zone, 3 to the South Central zone, and 1 to the South East zone.

Six Saskatchewan residents tested out of the province were added as follows - 3 to the Saskatoon zone, 2 to the Regina zone, and 1 to the South Central zone.

Two-fifths (40.0%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 age category.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers is 1,256 (104.2 new cases per 100,000 population).

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 110,399, of which 12,753 are considered active.

There are 406 active cases in the South West zone - 64 in South West subzone 1, and 342 in South West subzone 2.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has reported 2 COVID-19 cases among staff and residents from January 21 at Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix.

There are 1,449 recoveries reported, 47 of those in the South West zone, bringing the provincial total number of recoveries to 96,671.

There are 3 new deaths reported, bringing the provincial total number of deaths to 975.

There are 262 people in the hospital - 233 receiving inpatient care, and 29 in intensive care.

Of the 262 patients, 99 (37.8%) were not fully vaccinated.

Of the 262 hospitalizations, 233 are inpatient. Of those, 92 are a COVID-19 related illness, 102 are incidental COVID infections, and 39 are not yet determined.

Of the 29 residents in intensive care,  21 are for COVID-19 related illnesses, 5 are for incidental COVID infections, and 3 are undetermined.

Three residents are in PICU/NICU - 2 are for COVID-19 related illnesses,  and 1 for incidental COVID infections.

Of the 19,883 variants of concern cases identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 7,123 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 10 are Beta (B.1.351), 484 are Gamma (P.1), 10,130 are Delta (B.1.617.2), and 2,136 are Omicron (B.1.1.529).

To date, 1,414,762 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 2,856 COVID-19 tests processed in the province.

There have been 1,984 COVID-19 vaccinations administered, 39 of those in the South West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of vaccinations given to 1,846,921.

And there are now 887,362 Saskatchewan residents who are fully vaccinated.
