Swift Current continues to grow, as the real estate market reflects that more folks might be settling down in the city.

Last year a total of 331 properties sold in the city, with 316 of those being residential homes.

Kelsey Adam, realtor with Century 21 Accord Reality, said the average price for those homes was $260,000.

"When you look at what prices are from some of these news stories that you're hearing from other cities, we're talking about millions of dollars of houses," he said. "We're still very affordable here in Swift Current."

He pointed out that the sale numbers are increasing, but the average price isn't moving up with it, reflects on the city's affordability, which adds to its appeal.

While 2021 was a record-breaking year for the city with 356 homes, lots, and properties sold, Adam shared that last year's numbers show that it was still a big success.

"We were down in sales about 8 per cent," he said. "But overall that that puts us in the second-best year of sales that we've ever had. It's pretty difficult to compare with 2021 because of how great the year ended up, but we're still doing very well when you look at it even on a 10-year average.

"Our inventory is shrinking as well," he added. "So, while our sales are strong, our inventory is reducing, so that must mean there are more people who are coming in than going out. The real estate market is, I think, still going to continue to be strong going into 2023."
