Assiniboia RCMP received a report of a robbery at a residence near Ardill last month, and investigation determined an individual was threatened with a firearm, assaulted and robbed. The victim was treated at hospital for injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

A firearm was also pointed at the same victim in a separate incident involving one of the suspects from the robbery.

As part of the investigation, Assiniboia officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Ardill on June 27, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). They found and seized four firearms and ammunition from the residence.

Two individuals were also arrested at the residence, and a third in Mossbank.

Sixty-four-year-old Kevin Lacasse from Ardill is charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, one count uttering threats, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of assault with a weapon and one count unsafe storage of a firearm.

Twenty-four-year-old Chaze Kober from Mossbank is charged with one count assault with a weapon, one count using a firearm in the commission of an offense, one count using a firearm in a careless manner, one count carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count pointing a firearm, one count possessing a firearm while prohibited and one count of robbery with firearm.

Benjamin Knudson, 40 years old from Ardill, is charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count robbery, and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm. He was also arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.

The three accused appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Friday.
